Sweden Team Announcement: Isak Named Whereas Viktor Gyokeres Excluded
The striker signed with Arsenal from Sporting this summer
Gunners striker Viktor Gyokeres was left out from Graham Potter's first Swedish national team selection, while Liverpool striker the talented attacker secured inclusion
The Arsenal forward is scheduled for additional medical tests this week amid concerns he suffered a muscle problem during the Gunners's Premier League win at the Clarets last weekend
Gyokeres missed the Gunners' European success against the Czech side earlier this week
Alexander Isak Returns
The Liverpool striker, who hasn't featured since 22 October because of a groin problem, was selected for the World Cup fixtures against Switzerland (15 November) and the Slovenian side (November 18th)
Additional Premier League Call-ups
- Tottenham playmaker Lucas Bergvall, working his way back after a head knock
- Magpies winger the Swedish international
Both athletes feature in Potter's Premier League players chosen by ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham coach Graham Potter
The New Manager's Role
Potter took over by Sweden originally on a short-term basis on 20 October, under a month following leaving from West Ham
Previous boss the Danish coach lost his job following Sweden's defeat to Kosovo in mid-October, a result that made straight qualification in qualifying group unattainable
Present Standing
Sweden are currently last place in Group B with just one point in four matches
Even if they don't manage to finish second, they could still participate in the secondary qualification as a result of their performance during the previous Nations League
